Reaching the Summit

 Carly, Day 162, June 11, 2026

Carly had increased her rock climbing skill to level 9 and thought it was time to make the climb. Phillip was still trying to get to level 8 at least. So Carly and Em were letting him study a bit more.

And it was starting to get colder in Mt. Komorebi, so Em got her winter outfit out of storage. Thank you Grandma Irene!

And Carly and Phillip started their climb early the next morning, both wearing hematite jewelry.

This one doesn't look bad, but truth is this is their second attempt. Carly fell off this one the first time they started the excursion.

Once they got to the top of this one, they traveled to the second climb. This one does have a bush to use though and a tent to take a rest.

And Carly would often get her camera out and take pictures as they made it to a new area.

After their rest, they climbed the second wall.

Phillip is always a bit slower than Carly, since she does have the higher skill. The next wall is the tallest and the biggest test of their skill and Carly's leadership. It was a beautiful day and they still had a lot of daylight as they started that wall.

It looks intimidating and it is, but they both felt confident as they started to climb. Carly climbed courageously and Phillip climbed normally.

And luckily, they both made it.

And they took some pictures.

And they traveled to the last marker.

And night was beginning to fall and Carly got a picture of Phillip. It always feels very other worldly at the peak.

It is hard to see, but they are in that picture.

And there was a little cabin up there with a hot springs and they enjoyed that and then looked at some stars before spending the night in the cabin.

Maybe they will make it back there someday.
